Police are looking for a vehicle that rear-ended an unmarked police vehicle Sunday morning (August 14) shortly before 8 a.m. on Highway 1 westbound, between 232 St and Glover Rd. in Port Mann.

Sgt. Annie Linteau said unmarked RCMP vehicle had its emergency lights activated, was parked on the side of the highway and awaiting the arrival of a tow-truck following a single vehicle rollover.

Police are continuing their investigation of the incident and have since received information that a witness may have been following the pick-up truck that rear-ended the police vehicle.

This person apparently briefly stopped at the scene but left before investigators were able to obtain their particulars.

Investigators are hoping this person can contact the Port Mann RCMP at 604-526-9744.

The RCMP member remains in hospital with serious injuries.  All three occupants of the vehicle that rear-ended the police vehicle have been transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A number of police resources are currently at scene investigating, including members of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS).

That portion of the highway is currently closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Police are also continuing their investigation of the single vehicle roll-over.  The status of that driver is unknown at this time.
