RCMP said in a media release Thursday that earlier this week, the Federal Crown approved seven (7) counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking against Nakusp resident, Saedy Jones.

RCMP said that the charges were the result of two investigations from May and June of 2023 and were due to the excellent and proactive work of the Slocan Lake officer.

“It is a priority for the Nakusp and Slocan Lake RCMP Detachments to keep illicit drugs from entering our community, and away from the most vulnerable in the community, our youth,” RCMP media release said.

RCMP Cpl. Gill thanks the communities for reporting suspicious activities and encourages them to continue to keep our communities safe from these illicit and dangerous substances.

Jones’s first court date is scheduled for May 15th, 2024.
