Pair pleads guilty following attempted heist of tools, copper cable

A man was sentenced to seven months in jail and a woman is currently serving time in a correctional facility on the Lower Mainland following a heist of tools and copper cable from a storage facility said Nelson Police Sergeant Dino Falcone in a media release Thursday.

Falcone said police were called to a location within the city limits during the early hours of (Monday) August 15.

When police arrived officers discovered the local couple loading a vehicle with multiple tools as well as copper cable from a storage facility at approximately 4 a.m.

Falcone said police are crediting the security guard for guiding the officers to the scene where the suspects were apprehended and for also preventing the duo from leaving with what would have been a significant dollar figure of stolen items.

“The pair that is well known to police and also caused a significant amount of damage to some equipment and materials on scene,” Falcone explained.

“Nelson Police conducted a thorough and lengthy investigation and were pleased with the guilty pleas.”

Falcone said the 26-year-old woman and 44-year-old were charged with Break and Enter, Theft over $5000 dollars, Possession of Break in Instruments and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order.
