Delta Police release video of motorcyle rider exceeding 200 km/hr
Delta Police released footage Tuesday of a motorcyclist exceeding 200 kilometer per hour on a ride on the Pacific Highway.
The GoPro video shot on the ride shows the 27-year-old Lower Mainland man shows the rider dangerously weaving through traffic and between rows of cars on a ride in April on Highway 17.
He was clocked by police travelling 213 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.
“This motorcyclist was pulled over after registering 213 km/hr on a laser in an 80 km/hr zone,” the Delta Police media release said.
The motorcycle rider was ticketed for excessive speeding and driving without due care and attention, resulting in a $483 fine, a seven-day vehicle impoundment and three driver penalty points.
Delta Police said the tickets were issued relating to the initial traffic stop.
The rider signed a release for police to use the footage.
“The rider reaches speeds of over 220 km/hr, splits traffic by driving between the rows of cars, and at other times weaves in and out of other cars and large semi trucks/dump trucks – putting himself and other road users at considerable risk,” said Delta Police.
