A sizable marijuana grow operation has been unearthed in an Uphill neighbourhood.

Nelson Police Department officers have busted a marijuana grow operation in the basement of an Uphill home, with three people facing charges after 90 plants in full bloom were seized by police.

According to police, the plants were ready to be harvested and had an estimated street value of over $30,000.

A number of garbage bags full of marijuana leaves were also seized, likely to be used in the production of hash.

Two men were arrested at the home and lodged in NPD cells, while a female youth was allowed to leave and stay with a friend. A woman who was not home at the time later turned herself into police.

All three have January court dates, facing production and possession charges.
