Shane Philip with The Ty West Trio

Multi-instrumentalist Shane Philip returns to the Royal.

Philip is known worldwide for his dynamic didgeridoo-infused music and has been touring constantly for the past few years now. His rhythmic and intoxicating sounds are powerful enough to fill a room with dancing fans and soulful enough to quiet a packed house.

Those songs have captured audiences for years in Canada, particularly along the west coast, but for the past five years, he’s captured listeners around the globe.

Our very own Ty West along with Katie Moran and Jesse Lee will kick off the evening with their funky, folky, acoustic tunes.

The Tuques with Wholesome Jones

Following the final Marketfest of the season these two local favourites keep the street party going inside the Royal.

Wholesome Jones, the five piece funk-ified folk rockers will open the night, while the roots rock, foot stomping rhythms of the Tuques take you home.  Join us for another awesome downtown party extravaganza.

The Carnival Band with Oxygen Orkestar

The Carnival Band is a community-based brass band that seeks to use music as a tool to empower its musicians and members of the community alike to work toward peaceful and positive social change.

Under the direction of father-son duo Tim Sars and Ross Barrett, the Carnival Band has operated for over 10 years out of the Britannia community Center in the Commercial Drive neighborhood of Vancouver, playing music ranging from samba, calypso, funk, and klezmer to New Orleans style jazz — animated music that injects crowds an instant blast of energy.

Nelson’s own Oxygen Orkestar will get things rolling.
