Lisel and Jeffrey Forstʼs theatre company Cedar Street presents the worldwide premiere of Murder on the Canadian by Eric Wilson, based on his novel, at the Capitol Theatre from October 22-24.

Murder on the Canadian is a comedic thriller for all-ages that follows young detective Tom Austen as he travels cross-Canada via rail attempting to solve a crime on the way.

According to the Times Literary Supplement, “The action moves as fast as the train.”

Eric Wilson Mysteries have sold millions of copies worldwide in over ten languages.

While teaching locally Eric researched and wrote The Kootenay Kidnapper, set in Nelson and throughout the region including the Cody Caves.

His Murder on the Canadian novel is celebrating its fortieth consecutive year in-print and was recently included in CBC Books 100: 100 young adult books that make you proud to be Canadian.

Eric Wilson and his wife Flo will attend the opening night of Murder on the Canadian and will sign books at Otterʼs Books at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24th.

Having spoken at schools throughout North America in support of literacy and the fun art of story-telling, Eric will also be making his presentation to local students while in Nelson.

Directed by Jeffrey (and part of murder mystery month with Lucas Myersʼ latest), Murder on the Canadian features Tucker Bingham as Tom Austen with Lisel, Sydney Black, Mackenzie Hope, Darren Fuss, Evan Forst, Molly Strachan and Ty Wright among others in the all-star cast.

Cedar Street produced over a dozen shows such as Fore-play and Raz in the early millenium before Jeffrey founded Nelson Youth Theatre and Lisel became a professional hairstylist at Enso Hair Design.

Recently, Jeffrey directed Liselʼs Bedtime Rhymes Pantomime for the Capitol Theatre while she helmed Black Productionsʼ hit musical Chicago in which he played Billy Flynn.

Showtime for Murder on the Canadian is 8 p.m. and tickets (20% off for families) are available for $25/$20 (plus taxes/fees) at the Capitol Box Office (#250.352.6363).
