Nelson Leafs win bronze medal at Atom Tournament

The Nelson Leafs came ever so close to win it all, settling for the bronze medal at the Atom Minor Hockey Tournament this past weekend.

The Leafs defeated City rival Nelson Chiefs 6-2 to claim the bronze medal.

Leafs goals were scored by Gunnar Evenson assisted by Jaden Hlookoff; Cash Nay assisted by Mitchell Erickson; Larson Proctor assisted by Erickson; Jaden Hlookoff assisted by Erickson; Erickson assisted by Proctor and an empty net goal by Nay.

Miller Tedesco and Max Jean replied for the Chiefs.

Shea Andersen was game MVP for the Leafs while Grady Groenhuysen was in goal for the Chiefs.

Nelson Leafs went undefeated during the round robin, finishing in a three-way tie with two teams from Trail.

However, the Leafs lost out on a tiebreaker to drop to third spot in the standings.

Trail Toads defeated Trail 3 in the final to claim the overall title.
