Jordan Davie is having a great start to the 2015-16 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League season.

The Kaslo native scored his fourth goal of the season with just under four minutes remaining in the game to lift the Nelson Leafs to a 2-1 victory over the Grand Forks Border Bruins Sunday afternoon in the Boundary City.

Despite owning a shot total by a wide margin, Nelson once again found it difficult to score.

Nelson out shot the Bruins 21-7 in the opening frame, but could only muster a Brendan Smith goal with 13 seconds remaining in the period.

Grand Forks tied the game in the second as the Bruins turned the shot-table on the Leafs.

Shayne Pluto beat Joseph Barton in the Nelson nets four minutes into the period.

The scored remained the same until Davie, who scored twice in Nelson’s 4-1 win over Spokane, beat Nikki Maclurzynski in the Grand Forks nets.

Nelson finished the game outshooting the Bruins 35-24.

Leafs, now 2-2 on the season, are on the road next weekend for a trip to Princeton, Friday, and Osoyoos, Saturday.
