Mountainside Chamber Music is inviting experienced Violinists, Violists, Cellists and Bass Players to join our expanding strings program held in both Nelson and Hills.

The upcoming 2015 Winter-Spring strings program runs from Jan 27 –  June 9, 2015.  Registration deadline is January 20, 2015.

Cellist and Director, Jeff Faragher brings his coaching and conducting experience as Artistic Director of the Symphony of the Kootenays (SOTK) to our growing musical community and he enthusiastically collaborates with other professional instructors to enrich the program experience.

The Mountainside Chamber Music program is seeking current string players who want to expand their musical horizons as well as experienced string players with previous training.

”Listen for the sound of your packed away violin or viola calling you and come out to join one of our fun and enriching ensembles in the New Year”, says Mountainside administrator and cellist, Sue Mistretta.

The program includes Large String Ensembles (orchestra) and Cello Choirs (ensemble) in both the Nelson location at Cedar Hall and the studio located in Hills (North Slocan Valley).

Positions are open in all ensembles and string players, (ages 12+)with at least two years of private instruction and previous ensemble experience.

“It is important that the strongerplayers help to mentor the players with less experience,”says director Jeff Faragher.

Nelson programs begin January 27 and meet weekly on Tuesdays.  The Hills programs begin on February 4 and meet on alternating Wednesdays.

The orchestras in both locations play the same musical pieces and once per month Jeff provides an opportunity for both groups to play together.  There will be exciting opportunities to participate once again in the Kootenay Festival of the Arts.

Performances are held at the end of each semester.

Mountainside Chamber Music string ensembles invite you to come and have a listen to one of our three performances at Mountain Lakes Senior Community in Nelson on Tuesday (Jan 20) at 6 p.m., Knox Hall in New Denver on Wednesday (Jan 21) at 4 p.m. or the Nelson Evangelical Convenant Church on Saturday (Jan 24) at 7 p.m.
