Leafs 2017 training camp begins Friday at NDCC Arena

Believe it or not, hockey season is right around the corner.

The Nelson Leafs begin quest for the ultimate prize, the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Championship, when the Green and White host training camp beginning Friday at the NDCC Arena.

The main camp runs from Friday to Sunday at the NDCC Arena.

Mario DiBella is back at the helm of the coaching staff for the Leafs with Lance Morey taking over the General Manager duties from Sean Dooley, who had to take a step back due to family and work commitments.

Nelson, a team that puts education at the forefront of its franchise, opens the exhibition season Sunday, August 27 in Grand Forks against the Bruins.

The Leafs continue the preseason on the road in Castlegar Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31 in Fruitvale against the defending KIJHL champion Nitehawks.

Nelson completes the preseason at home September 1 against Beaver Valley, September 2 against Castlegar and September 3 versus Grand Forks.

The Leafs open the regular season with a pair of home dates Friday, September 8 against Beaver Valley and Saturday, September 9 against Fernie Ghostriders.

Nelson plays five games at home in September.
