Kootenay swimmers shine at June Classic in Kamloops

The Kootenay swim club made a big splash in the pool at the recent Kamloops June Classic.

Brianne Mager, Locke Finley, Logan Blair, Makenzie Mager, Stevenson McCulloch and Riley Mager all registered impressive performances with everyone coming away with personal bests in a majority of the events and rounded out the top eight.  

Finley and Blair achieved “A”, “AA”, and “AAA” Provincial standards at their first long course meet (international racing standard) of the year.  The Mager’s aced strong coming away with personal bests in 200 Free and 50 Breast, respectively.  

The dynamic duo, Brianne Mager and McCulloch, will be moving on to represent the Kootenay’s again in Kamloops, for “AA” Provincials, June 24-26th, where they will be trying to qualify for AAA’s, slated to be held in Victoria July 6th-10th.  

Both have also been invited to the BC Summer Games in Abbotsford, July 22nd – 25th, where they will be representing Zone 1 for the Columbia/Kootenay Region.   

This will wrap up the Kootenay Swim club’s season until September 2016, in anticipation of the grand opening of the Nelson pool!

Olympians Brent Hayden and Ryan Cochrane will be hosted by the Kootenay Swim club in the fall, when the club starts their season again.
