Junior Bomber teams open New Year with pair of wins

The L.V. Rogers Junior Boy’s Basketball teams opened the New Year with a couple of weekend wins over Boundary Central Secondary Roadrunners of Midway.

 

Keegan Carmichael and Fynn Keywood combined for 37 points to lead the Junior Bombers to a 71-50 over the Road Runners.

 

In the other contest, the LVR Grade 9s doubled Midway 61-30.

 

The Junior Bombers held a 32-28 halftime lead before dominating the Roadrunners in the second half, outscoring the visitors 39-22.

 

Carmichael led LVR with 17 points while Keywood had 16. Roadrunners’ Matthios Bergendahl led all scorers with 31 points.

 

The LVR Grade 9s held the lead from start to finish against Boundary Central, opening a 29-18 halftime lead.

 

Kelton Forte, Matti Erickson, and Nathaniel Pan led scorers, each scoring 14 points.

At the other end of the court, the Bombers saw strong defensive play from Isaac Vissers and Josh Creak.

Tuesday a well-coached Grand Forks Wolves squad dominated the Junior Bombers in West Kootenay High School Junior Boy’s Basketball action at the Hangar.

Liam Fraser dropped in 30 points to power the Wolves to a 53-34 victory over the Bombers. LVR couldn’t keep Wolves off offensive boards as well as had a difficult time solving the Wolves 2-3 zone defence.

 

Gabrielle Samson led Bombers with 12 points.
