The L.V. Rogers Bombers came within a few seconds of securing a win at the B.C. High School AAA Boy’s Basketball Championships Saturday in Langley.

However, a Bomber turnover with 13 seconds remaining in the game allowed Samuel Robertson to score the winning points to earn a 51-50 victory over LVR in consolation round play.

The result left LVR in 16th spot in the tournament.

The Maple Ridge school opened the game with a 13-6 advantage after one quarter. LVR managed to rally to cut the margin to 26-24 at the half and 37-36 after three periods.

The Bombers were in the lead 50-49 with 13 seconds remaining in the game.

But a turnover on an in-bounds play proved to be the difference as the Fraser Valley squad stole the one point victory.

Senior Isaiah Kingdon and Ethan Perkins led the Bombers with 17 points and six rebounds and 19 points and 10 rebounds, respectively.

Tobin Eberle, finishing with eight points and 12 rebounds, fouled out down the stretch leaving the Bombers with only six players after the Kootenay reps started the game with only seven bodies.

Starter Bjorn Morris did not play after suffering food poisoning.

Friday, LVR lost 70-56 to McMath from Richmond.

Morris led LVR with 22 points while Kingdon had eight points and Leo Zhou had nine.

LVR opened the tournament losing 59-37 to Sir Charles Tupper of Vancouver and 52-35 to Maple Ridge Rambers.

St. Thomas Moore of Vancouver defeated Charles Hayes 53-38 of Prince Rupert in the championship final.
