The Nelson Air Cadet squadron started its 65th year of Air Cadets in the Heritage City during training September 6th, 2017.

At the first parade, one of the adult staff of the Squadron, Brittnee Wallin, was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant.

This is 2Lt Wallin’s first promotion since joining the Canadian Armed Forces as a Cadet Instructor in 2013.

Also promoted was Cadet Ryley Thompson. She was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Ryley lives in Nelson and attends LV Rogers School.

Nelson Air Cadets meet at 6:15 p.m. every Wednesday at the Nelson Eagles Hall at 641 Baker Street.

The squadron always welcomes new cadets who are between the ages of 12 and 18.

““This is great way to start the Training Year for Nelson Air Cadets. We are planning a fun and dynamic program for the cadets this year and invite all Nelson area youth to come and try the program,” said Major Kevin DeBiasio, Commanding Officer 561 Nelson Air Cadets.

Adults who would like to volunteer with squadron are also welcome.
