Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures for South Slocan

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has implemented mandatory Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures for the South Slocan Water System beginning Thursday, August 8, 2019.
In a media release, the RDCK said this system is experiencing high water usage and declining reservoir levels.
“As a proactive measure for the anticipated extended hot weather and high levels of demand, the South Slocan water system requires that users conserve water,” the release said.
“We also ask that residents report any unusual wet ground areas that may indicate a water main or service leak as this may also be contributing to increased water consumption.”
STAGE 2 WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES are now in effect for the South Slocan Water System, which means:
- Watering of lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs is ONLY permitted between 6 a.m.-10 a.m. and 8 p.m.-10 p.m.
- Watering of gardens, trees and shrubs by watering can or hand-held hose is still permitted anytime.
The Regional District appreciates your cooperation in adhering to the above water conservation measures. Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures will remain in effect until further notice and stricter water conservation measures may be required if demand increases significantly, hot and dry weather prevails, or stream flows decline to critically low levels.
