Funeral for Nelson Police officer announced

In a media release Monday, the City of Nelson announced that a private funeral service is planned for Nelson Police Constable Wade Tittemore on Wednesday, January 18th at the Capitol Theatre at Noon PST.

The media release said that the service is for invited guests only and not open to the general public.

Const. Tittemore was killed in an avalanche while backcountry skiing in the mountains northwest of Kaslo on Monday, January 9.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be directed to the established Go Fund Me page, or the Nelson Police Foundation.

Meanwhile, the other Nelson Police Officer involved in the avalanche, Constable Mathieu Nolet, continues his recovery in the ICU of a local area hospital.

“He is making incremental progress, but has a long road ahead in his recovery,” the media release said.

“The City of Nelson, Mayor and Council, the Nelson Police Department and the Nelson Police Board all wish Mathieu a speedy and healthy recovery.”

The City of Nelson would like to thank everyone who have written comments, sent letters and cards, called, sent emails and visited etc.

“The outpouring of love from our community has been incredible,” the City of Nelson said.
