BC Liberal leadership candidate advocates for rural representation, adventure tourism sectors during tour of riding

BC Liberal leadership candidate Kevin Falcon was in the Heritage City earlier this week to meet with voters at the Chamber of Commerce.
Falcon, running to be the next leader of the BC Liberal Party, promised to be an advocate for rural BC and the Kootenay Region if elected.
“As BC Liberal and Premier, I will fight to make sure the Kootenays, and rural BC, have the representation they deserve,” said Falcon. “I will make sure important sectors of the economy like the adventure tourism industry and the natural resource sectors receive the support they need.”
Falcon has been touring the Kootenay Region alongside former Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett, with visits to Nelson, Creston, Trail, Castlegar, and Cranbrook.
“Kevin is a proven leader with experience in getting big things done,” said Bennett. “He has an exciting vision for the province and always delivered results for the Kootenays as a cabinet minister.”
“I’ve heard from many members and residents here that childcare is top of mind,” continued Falcon. “The pandemic has highlighted the pressures of childcare on working families. That’s why I have a five-point childcare plan to ensure families have access to affordable and quality childcare no matter where you live in the province.”
Falcon served for over a decade in the provincial cabinet, taking on the roles of Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance, Minister of Transportation, and Minister of Health.
Falcon is running against Gavin Dew, Micheal Lee, Val Litwin, Ellis Ross and Renee Merrifield.
The BC Liberal Party will vote for their new leader between February 3rd to 5th, 2022.
