Another Blast of Winter expected through Friday

Old Man Winter just doesn’t want to leave just yet.
Environment Canada said a Pacific low pressure system is spreading snow to Boundary, West Kootenay and Kootenay Lake regions, causing havoc for driving on Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass Thursday morning.
“Periods of light snow today will become heavy at times tonight as the low crosses the area,” Environment Canada said, sparking a Public Alert for the region.
“Total snow accumulations of 20 to 30 cm can be expected before the snow tapers off to a few flurries Friday morning.”
Environment Canada said the public should consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve as visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow and surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
