Allison Girvan, who has come full circle at the Capitol Theatre, is now the new Box Office Manager for the local theatre arts facility on Victoria Street in Nelson.

Girvan also assumes the Assistant Manager position.

Girvan, who first worked at the Capitol Theatre in 1987 through a student summer works program, brings a passion and understanding of the performing arts in the Heritage City to the new job.

“The Capitol Theatre has held my heart since my first experience in it when I was 19 years old,” said Girvan, who made the Heritage City the permanent home in 1996.

“It has been a constant through the past 30 years of my life and has woven itself into the wrap and weft of the fabric of my existence and has shaped not only who I am, but who my two children are.”

Girvan said it was theatre community, who are among her most favourite people on the planet, that made this an easy decision to make.

“The reality now of a work environment that includes this calibre of human being is such an exciting prospect,” Girvan said.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 continues to plague all community programs and events forcing Girvan and ease into the job.

Capitol Theatre said on its website due to the extension of the Public Health Order to February 5, all shows are being cancelled, postponed or reformatted.
