Thunder roll to victory in final game at BC Juvenile Boys Hoops Championships

Elijah Marcum scored a game-high 18 points to spark the Trafalgar Thunder to a 50-39 victory over Columneetza of Williams Lake in Consolation Round action at the BC Juvenile Boys Basketball Championships in Coquitlam.

The win was the first in four games at the 32-team tournament for the Kootenay Zone reps.

Trafalgar, running into foul trouble in the opening eight minutes of the game, trailed 11-9 after the first quarter.

The Thunder turned up the defence in the second frame outscoring the Northern Reps 10-4 to take a 19-15 lead at recess.

Trafalgar continued to control the contest in the third period, racking up 17 points to six for the opposition to take a commanding 36-21 lead heading into the final quarter.

Mason Anderson added nine points for the Thunder while Kaiden Gower and Tenzin Machado each finished with seven and six points, respectively.

The Thunder opened the tournament Thursday with a 64-37 loss to Abby Christian.

Marcum scored 20 points and Anderson added 10 to lead the Thunder.

The Thunder then dropped a 48-36 decision to West Vancouver.

The duo of Marcum and Anderson led Trafalgar with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
