The Nelson Titans 16U Women’s team swept through the competition to claim the division title at a BC Club Volleyball Tournament in early May and are now headed to Nationals in Edmonton on May 24-26.

The Titans defeated Quesnel 2-0 in the best-of-three final in the 16U Girls Division 5 final.

The Titans posted wins over a strong team from Victoria in the semi-final to advance to the playoff round.

Nelson has really developed this season, starting with a poor showing in the Lower Mainland in January and bouncing back to win the Division 4 tournament in Oliver in April.

The commitment to attend Nationals is intense both financially and time spent preparing and practicing.

“We are so grateful for sponsors who have stepped up including Emily Tucker, CFP – IG Wealth Management and Interfor Corporation (Castlegar Division),” said a team spokesperson.

“If you or your business are able to support, please email us at nelsonvolleyballclub@gmail.com.”

The Nelson 15U Fire team also finished first in Division 5 at Provincials.

The local squad swept past Campbell River in an exciting match 21-25, 26-24, 15-11.
