After a strong finish in the last provincial election, Nicole Charlwood is one of the most likely Greens to win in BC.

When running for City Councilor for Nelson, Nicole received 75% of the vote and attracted the highest youth turnout in voting history. She can rally a community around the most important issues, and bring decisive action to the table on behalf of constituents. As we tackle climate change, the cost of living crisis, our failing healthcare system and unaffordable housing, Nicole has shown the kind of leadership we desperately need.

“After a strong second in the last-minute campaign of 2020, we know I can win the seat, and I’m excited to be the first BC Greens MLA in the Interior. The BC Greens are our opportunity to raise the bar for democracy and find local solutions for our rural communities.

Turning more seats Green would bring a collaborative and localized approach to the most pressing issues we face. Politics in BC has become divisive and unproductive – the BC Greens can, and will, break the cycle of inaction that has long plagued our legislature.

The current BC majority government manipulates election times and allows its leadership to consult for the extractive industry. They take and take from our natural environment, with no consideration for how it will impact the lives of communities like ours in the Kootenays. Our political system allows one party to have 100% of the power with only 30-40% of the vote, so every vote really matters.

I have one of the best chances in the province to win a BC Green seat. I will be part of a team of MLAs who collaborate and get to vote independently in the BC Legislature. True representation for our rural riding is a strong voice for affordability, human health and nature’s health. You will be holding me directly accountable for my voting record and helping me to develop thoughtful and impactful private members bills in accordance with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People’s Act. I want to be an MLA so that I can truly change the lives of people in my community for the better.”

The 2024 BC election is about power and leadership. The power to bring forth modern and ethical laws. The leadership that will make meaningful change for everyone. For too many years, the governing party has let British Columbians down. It’s time to vote for a new generation of leaders who are ready to make big moves for the benefit of future generations.

In Kootenay Central, that’s Nicole Charlwood.

A new region in the next election already has a bright new candidate from the BC Green Party for the Kootenay Central communities that includes the Arrow Lakes and the Northern end of Slocan Lake. A win for Nicole Charlwood would be a historic win for the BC Green Party and for voters in BC.

Nicole Charlwood has thrown her hat into the ring for Kootenay Central after a strong finish in the last BC election for the City of Nelson, proving she is one of the most likely Greens to win in the entire province.

With only a few seats in the Legislature, we have experienced the more democratic power of three main parties holding decision-making parties. Greens offer decisions at the intersection of economy, nature, and social justice like no other party.

Nicole emphasizes, “I’m running to be the first BC Greens MLA in the Interior which is a really big deal. After a strong second in the last-minute campaign of 2020, we know I can win the seat. I have continued to engage with my community and see the BC Greens as our local opportunity to raise the bar for democracy and local solutions for our rural communities.

As in 2018, turning a few more seats Green would bring a more collaborative and localized approach to the issues of our time. The Greens argue that more voices makes the Legislation is better because it offers the opportunity to break our polarized politics in BC.

The current BC majority government manipulates election times and allows its leadership to consult for the extractive industry. It continues to take an authoritarian approach to legislative decisions. With only 30-40% of the popular vote, sadly, one party has 100% of the power.

I have one of the best chances in the province to win a BC Greens seat. I will be one of a team of MLAs who collaborate AND get to vote independently in the BC Legislature. True representation for our rural riding has a strong voice regarding affordability, our health and nature’s health. You will be holding me directly accountable for my voting record and will help me develop thoughtful and impactful private members bills in accordance with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People’s Act.”

This coming election is about power and leadership. The power to bring forth modern and ethical laws. Locally voters are ready to break the half-century hold one party has had in this riding. Nicole Charlwood is part of a new generation of leaders who are ready to make big moves for the benefit of generations.

Each and every vote will matter in the next BC election, and our riding is clearly ready for improved government service. We have the power. Let’s use it and change BC politics for the Good.
