Plenty of activities during the third annual BC Invasive Species Week

To celebrate the third Annual BC Invasive Species Week the Central Kootenay Invasive Plant Committee (CKIPC) has several engaging community events planned for the week of June 6-14.

Some of the events include:

  • Annual ‘Forbidden Delights’- Come on out and enjoy the special dinner menu at the Rel-ish Bistro on Saturday (June 6-14)
  • Knotweed Workshop-learn how to identify, treat and manage invasive knotweeds on your property workshop for Saturday (June 7). This workshop is free and will be held in Nelson from 1-3 pm. Please RSVP by Friday (June, 6) via email at
  • On Monday (June 9), Nakusp Community Scotch Broom Bash-Come on out and help the Village of Nakusp and Nakusp Elementary School control Scotch broom from 10:30-1:30 pm. Meet at the Elementary School at 9:30 am.
  • On Tuesday (June 10) ‘Life By the Lake’-Interpretative signage installation in collaboration with the City of Nelson.
  • On Thursday, (June 12) Nelson Dog Walk Shoreline Restoration-Come on out and help the Waldorf School students plant native trees and shrubs to control invasive common tansy from 8:30 a.m-3 p.m.
  • Royal Bank Aquatic Invasive Species educational booth display
