Rockslide disrupts service to TELUS customers in Kaslo

A rockslide happening Wednesday three kilometers north of Ainsworth has disrupted service to customers in Kaslo TELUS said in a media release Thursday.

The rockslide, which damaged infrastructure in the region, knocked out home phone services to approximately 1,000 customers in Kaslo.

“One cell tower in the area is also affected, as is landline and Internet service for approximately 300 customers,” TELUS said in statement. “The rockslide occurred around 6:30 a.m. PT (Wednesday) . . ..

“TELUS crews were immediately dispatched to locate the slide and begin repairing services.”

TELUS said due to the complexity of the scene, crews anticipate the work will take the majority of the day and should be restored this evening. 

TELUS recognizes how critical communications services are, now more than ever, and has brought in additional resources to help restore service as quickly as possible for their customers.
