Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Saanich – Gulf Islands) was quick to congratulate Peter Bevan-Baker on winning the Green Party’s first seat in the P.E.I. legislature following Monday’s provincial election.

“Congratulations to Peter Bevan-Baker and the whole Green Party of PEI field of exceptional candidates,” May said in a Green Party media release.

“Peter brought forward original and innovative policies, campaigned with honesty and engaged PEI voters on issues that matter. I know he will bring the same commitment to his constituents in his role as MLA for District 17.

“I am deeply thankful to Peter’s team and the whole Green Party of PEI field of exceptional candidates! You have made history on Prince Edward Island.”

Bevan-Baker results made political history with the Green Party’s first seat in the P.E.I. legislature.

Bevan-Baker won the seat over incumbent Liberal Valerie Docherty, dominating the district taking 54 per cent of the votes.

“Peter Bevan-Baker is in the same league as Elizabeth May: smart, hardworking, kind, honest, loving,” said Bruce Hyer, Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Thunder Bay – Superior North).

“He is committed to making PEI cleaner, healthier and more prosperous. He is a Renaissance man and one of the finest people I have ever met in my entire life.”

“Albert Einstein said famously that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different outcome. PEI residents made the right choice when they voted to send Peter to their legislature. He will bring about some real change.”

Premier Wade MacLauchlan of the Liberals won a majority, his third election win in a row on Prince Edward Island.
