Pedestrian struck in crosswalk transported to hospital

Nelson Police reported that a pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk near Safeway Wednesday evening.

Nelson Police said in a media release the accident happened at approximately 7 p.m. in the crosswalk in the 200 block of Anderson Street in Nelson.

“It was determined that a pedestrian was struck in the crosswalk by a slow-moving motor vehicle causing non-life-threatening injuries,” Nelson Police said.

“The pedestrian was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries for further assessment and treatment.”

Nelson Police would like to remind the public during this busy season to ensure to wear high visibility or bright clothing to better seen by motorists at night and for drivers to watch out for pedestrians in marked crosswalks.
