Kootenay Lake Hospital welcomes first newborn of 2022

Interior Health said Monday the Kootenay Lake Hospital welcomed its first baby of the New Year at 5:39 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
The baby boy was born to Sarah and Brad Wick of Riondel.
The Wick baby was 9 pounds, 13 ounces at birth.
Att Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, the first baby came as twins to Jenneka Plug and Matthew Chessor of Rossland. Twin baby boys Dawson and Harvey Plug were born January 5, at 4:01 a.m. and 4:46 a.m.
The first baby of 2022 born in BC happened a few minutes past midnight on New Year’s Day when Shawna White and Ishmael Grimwood welcomed their first baby boy at 12:04 a.m. at Victoria General Hospital.
The first baby boy of 2022 weighed in at six pounds, six ounces.
In Prince George, Brittany Colebank and Calivn Melenka welcomed a six-pound, seven-ounce baby girl at 12:09 a.m. at University Hospital.
Both parents had yet to pick a name for their newborn babies.
In the Central Okanagan, the Interior’s first baby was born at 2:11 a.m. on January 1 when Grey Ron Allison weighed in at six pounds, six ounces at Kelowna General Hospital.
Grey Ron Allison was the first baby born in Interior Health region in 2022.
Other newborns happened in Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon, Cranbrook, Nelson, Williams Lake and Penticton.
Cranbrook’s baby girl was born January 1 at 1:51 p.m. to Jo-Ann Pelletier and Billy Long. She was 5 pounds, 6 ounces at birth and has one sibling, Tavaen (9).
The top names in BC for new born babies was release Friday by the BC government.
Olivia was the most popular name in BC for 2021.
From Jan. 1 to Dec. 15, 2021, 40,333 babies were born in B.C. In 2020, 42,413 babies were born in B.C.
