A handful of players came away as big winners during the KidSport Nelson “Why do you love your sport?” contest.

The contest, co-sponsored by Gerick Cycle, DeVito Shoes and Mallard’s Source for Sports, recently saluted the winners during a ceremony at the Lakeside Soccer Pitch.

The contest winners included, Aleah Smith, Albie Drysdale, Gavin Rexin, Tyson Hutt and Alex Evans.

KidSport concept was hatched in 1993 by board and staff at Sport BC as a way to help address the challenges faced by many families when registering their children in organized sport.

KidSport has grown exponentially across the country and has become a truly national entity with 11 provincial/territorial chapters and over 175 community based chapters.

The branch of KidSport in Nelson began when the Heritage City hosted the seventh annual HockeyDay in Canada celebrations in 2007.
