Intoxicated man arrested for causing a disturbance at local convenience store

A usually quiet afternoon for a local convenience store turned into a bit of a gong show when an intoxicated man began harassing and threatening customers.
Nelson Police dispatch received a call from staff at 3 p.m. of a male threatening customers at the convenience at the corner of Ward and Baker Street.
Nelson Police attended the scene shortly after the call but the man had vacated the premises.
While police were looking for the man, he returned and began hitting
cars on the street and yelling at drivers.
The man ran away when members arrived but was quickly apprehended by police with the help of several pedestrians.
The 30-year-old local male was arrested and held in police cells until sober.
The man was released with a court date to answer to charges of causing a disturbance and resisting arrest.
The male is also forbidden from consuming liquor and going into the downtown area until the court appearance.
