Traffic on Highway 3A west of Nelson slowed to a crawl Thursday afternoon after a 2006 Nissan Ultima collided with a Kenworth gravel truck near the viewpoint parking lot overlooking CPR flats.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., an empty Kenworth truck towing pup trailer and working on the highway construction west of Nelson was heading east on Highway 3A.

While the Kenworth was making its turn into the parking lot to begin its trek back to reload a tan-coloured Nissan attempted to sneak past the gravel truck.

The two vehicles collided leaving the driver of the Nissan shaken but with no life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Kenworth truck was not injured.

There was significant damage to the front end passenger side of the Nissan. Damages to the Kenworth were minor.

Nelson Fire Department personal along with B.C. Ambulance attended the scene.
RCMP arrived a short time later to investigate the accident.
