Heritage City plays host to 2016 BC Association of Police Board Conference

The Heritage City is the site of the 2016 BC Association of Police Board Conference, running through the weekend at the Prestige Inn Lakeside Resort.

More than 60 Police Executives from the 13 British Columbia Municipal Departments join host Nelson Police Board at this year’s Conference, dubbed, “Ages and Stages”. 

Also attending are Directors of the Justice Institute of BC, Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General, the BC Police Association and Police Board Chairs (Mayors) and Board Members.

The Conference opened Thursday with a dialogue session between the BC Association of Municipal Chiefs of Police and the BCAPB. 

The delegates and their guests attended an Opening Reception at the Nelson Chamber of Commerce Thursday evening.

Friday’s speakers will address issues related to:

  • reflections on a career in policing; fair and impartial police training
  • struggling with and overcoming mental illness
  • and opportunities for rich and rewarding dialogue

Saturday morning, delegates will participate during the BCAPB Annual General Meeting before the Conference ends at noon on Saturday.

Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island Police Department and Police Board members look forward to travelling to the interior of the Province for this destination conference.
