It’s time for the tricksters to come out on Halloween.

But where did Halloween originate.

Halloween began 2,000 years ago when the Celts, had a festival commemorating the end of the year. Their New Year was November 1.

Halloween is considered by most in the North America as a fun holiday, mostly for children, but it has roots in ancient religions and folklore, including paganism, ancient Roman religions, early Catholic Christianity, Irish folklore, and even British politics.

Both children and adults enjoy this fun time dressing in costumes, enjoying candy, fireworks and parties, while some countries observe this time as a remembrance of departed loved ones and religious saints.

The Nelson Daily hopes everyone enjoys and has a safe Halloween.
