Former CBC radio host Jo-Ann Roberts seeks Green Party nomination

Former CBC radio host Jo-Ann Roberts announced in Victoria Saturday she is seeking a federal nomination for the Green Party in Victoria for the upcoming federal election.
“Victoria is a green city and it’s time for a Green MP,” Roberts said on Twitter.
A native of Prince Edward Island, Roberts has worked for CBC on and off since 1978.
Before moving to British Columbia, Roberts spent 10 years hosting CBC Radio’s morning show in Moncton, N.B.
The public broadcaster has been hammered in the past year with a 1,000 jobs cut after federal budget cuts and lagging advertising revenues.
Roberts said morale was at the lowest she had seen in 20 years.
She resigned after a decade hosting CBC Radio One’s “All Points West” in December because she wanted to fight more openly for the public broadcaster’s future.
“So thrilled to have Jo-Ann Roberts running for the (Green Party Canada in Victoria),” said Green Party leader Elizabeth May.
“Next weekend will be nomination meeting. 2015 is Year of Green!”
Roberts is the first to seek nomination for the Green Party in Victoria.
Currently NDP Murray Rankin holds the seat after edging out the Greens in 2012 in a very tight race.
