Christmas Pantomime, Alice in Nelsonland opens at Capitol Theatre

What’s with this sound of “Off with their Head” stuff floating out of the Capitol Theatre this week.

Well it’s none other than the 30th annual Christmas Pantomime set for this weekend at the Capitol Theatre in Nelson.

This year’s Panto is title, Alice in Nelsonland.

Under the direction of Avi Phillips, Alice in Nelsonland takes a young girl on a journey down a rabbit hole from Toronto to Nelson.

Starring Shasta Barkman as Alice, Michael Graham as Queen, Heather Gingras as White Rabbit and Mary Defeo as King, this year’s Panto promises tons of laughs and numerous interaction between cast members and the audience.

“We’re excited to create a magical wonderland to surround the audience, and enhance the senses with the vibrant sights and sounds of Nelsonland,” said Phillips.
A mainstay of local theatre, the Panto is also an important fundraiser for the Capitol.

Opening night was Thursday with evening shows again on Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. There is also two matinee performances Saturday and Sunday, both starting a 2 p.m.

Tickets, which are going fast, can be purchased at the Capitol Theatre Box office on 400 Victoria Street.
