Bands set for Rossland Mountain Film Festival

It’s that time of year again for the 12th annual Rossland Mountain Film Festival.
There are some changes this year with the format. Typically having Friday and Saturday late night events, they’ve condensed the films and entertainment and will be having one exciting show on Saturday, Nov. 26 being held at Rossland Secondary School.
Be sure to get your tickets early as it’s sure to be a sellout – how do they know? Because this year there will be two bands at the event. Co-headliners this year will be returning favourites Five Alarm Funk (www.fivealarmfunk.com)and, new to Rossland, Shout Out Out Out Out (www.shoutoutoutoutout.com). Both bands are sure to follow up the film showing with an excellent time.
As with every year, there will be the all ages film screening, film making workshops, the Under-19 competition, Gala event with charity art auction, films being shown around town, and the speaker presentation.

Youth Film
The international REEL Youth Film Festival comes to Rossland Saturday, Nov. 26th, featuring some of the best in international youth film-making, along with submissions from the talented youth of the West and Central Kootenays.
Admission is $3. Funds raised at the REEL Youth screening will support the upcoming U19 Film Festival and Gala: April 14, 2012 on the big screen at the Royal Theatre, Trail. The screening begins at noon at the Rossland Miners Hall.
The 2011 Reel Youth Film Festival is a collection of compelling and entertaining short youth films: animations, dramas, documentaries, comedies and a musical. Whether facing down riot police in Copenhagen, vying for love in Philadelphia, or searching Vancouver’s downtown east side for a missing aunt, these are the unflinching stories of today’s youth.
According to Festival Director Mark Vonesch, “The Reel Youth Film Festival is discovering and promoting the next generation of film makers. The festival empowers young people to speak up and express themselves through film. It is an opportunity for audiences to see the best of youth filmmaking while gaining insight into youth culture and the issues affecting young people today.”
The RYFF premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and continues across Canada and around the world, with almost 30 screenings booked from September, 2011 through August, 2012.
