Accident near Quesnel claims three

A head-on collision near Quesnel took the life of three people Thursday morning.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Thursday (September 4),  Quesnel RCMP received a report of a head on collision on Highway 97 south of Sales Road.

Investigation has determined that a pickup truck travelling northbound crossed the center line colliding head on with a southbound sport utility vehicle. 

The collision claimed the lives of the 48-year-old male driver of the pickup truck (Kelowna residents), the 73-year-old female driver of the SUV (New Hazelton resident) and her 70-year-old female passenger (Kelowna resident).

All casualties were pronounced deceased at the scene.     

Quesnel RCMP investigators are being assisted by North District Traffic Services Collision Reconstructionist and Traffic Analyst.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but alcohol is NOT believed to be a factor. 

Weather conditions at the time of the collision were cool with very dense fog and limited visibility.
