Nelson Regional Sport Council - Sport & Physical Recreation Grant

Over the next three years the Sport Council will be awarding $33,000 in grants to eligible groups and individuals for sport and recreation development in the region. The amount will be divided equally over three years, ($11,000 per yr) with each grant maximum of $1000. Rather than first come first served, fair distribution of the annual allotted amounts will be equally divided between the application deadlines to ensure funds accessibility across all sporting seasons.

During the time that the NRSC operated the Civic arena ownership and responsibility for the Zamboni included building a contingency/replacement fund. Now, (since 2016) the Civic operations and responsibilities have reverted to the City and RDCK the need to keep the replacement fund is no longer necessary. Consequently, the current NRSC Board of Directors took its time deciding on the best use of those funds and resolved to put them directly toward furthering the development of sport and physical recreation in our region.
