Mike Zeabin passed away in the Trail hospital on March 1st, 2024, at the age of 82.
Mike was born in the old Nelson hospital on November 28, 1941, and was raised in Blewett by his grandmother. His mother Mary Makonin lived in Glade B.C. and Mike was the oldest of four children. His grandmother was later a resident of Willowhaven Care Home where Mike’s wife, Alvina Lurane, was a nurse. Mike and Lurane were introduced at Willowhaven and the rest is history. They were married in the Russian way on May 28, 1964 then married on May 28, 1969 the official way. Together they had six children: Jennifer, Michael, Kenneth, Angel and twin boys Andrew and Dennis. Sadly, they lost three boys to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Mike worked mostly in the forest industry in the Nelson area.
He is survived by children Jennifer, Angel and Andrew, his wife of 59 years Alvina Lurane Zeabin. Also survived by their latest members of the family their golden doodle dog who he named after his loving wife, Alvina, and Daniel Borys and Larry Bartsoff their adopted sons.
There will be a visitation held on Wednesday March 13th from 2-4 at Thompson Funeral Service, 613 Ward St, Nelson and a graveside service Thursday March 14th at noon at the Glade Cemetery. All are welcome.
