LVR swimmers qualify for Provincials following successful Kootenay Zone Meet

Swimmers from L.V. Rogers used home pool advantage to capture most of the medals at the Kootenay Zone Regional High School Swim Meet this past weekend at the NDCC facility.

The Bombers women’s and men’s teams finished, first and second respectively in team competition against schools from Golden, Fernie, Kimberley , Creston, Trail, Rossland and Grand Forks.

The LVR Combined team won the gold medal.

There were also several swimmers who qualified for the provincial meet by placing in the top two in their individual events.

These swimmers are:

  • Megan Bonikowsky (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 fly)
  • Kallie Badry (100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 50 backstroke and 100 IM)
  • Sasha Eaton (50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 fly, 200 IM)
  • Christian Farragher (50 freestyle, 100 fly, 200 IM)
  • Sam Ross (100 breaststroke, 100 fly)
  • Evan Chouinard (100 freestyle)

Other LVR swimmers competing at the meet included, Elle Farragher, Lita Cowan, Madison Clark, Ashley Sonnichsen, Brooke Sonnichsen, Marlene Vigl, Ella Morris, Thea Solarik and Julian Karau.

The Bombers are coached by Niallan Collier of the Kootenay Swim Club.

The BC High School Swimming Championships are set for Vancouver Island November 17-18 at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre.
