SAR teams continue to search for missing Nelson woman

Search and Rescue teams from the region continue to search for a missing Nelson woman.

SAR teams from Nelson, Castlegar, Kaslo, Rossland and South Columbia are narrowed the search west of Nelson, near the Taghum bridge and Highway 3A where 56-year-old Ms. Rain Shields (aka Bella Black), was last seen.

In a media release Thursday, Nelson Police said that Ms. Shields, a Nelson resident, has not been heard from since the morning of October 31,2021 (Sunday).

SAR teams were focusing their search near Marsden Road and Grohman Creek Forest Service Road, a few 100 meters from where Highway 3A crosses the Kootenay River.

Nelson Police Saturday is asking residents in the Marsden Road and Grohman Creek Forest Service Road to check outbuildings and outlying properties for any signs of Ms. Shields.

In addition, Nelson Police is requesting anyone that was on the Grohman Forestry Service Road or in the immediate area on October 31, 2021 contact the Nelson Police Department at 250-354-3919 of the local RCMP Detachment.

A helicopter was brought in near the end of day Saturday to assist in the search operation.

Rain Shields (aka Bella Black), has not been seen since Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Police request public assistance to locate Nelson woman

The Nelson Police Department is asking the public for assistance in the search for 56-year-old Ms. Rain Shields (aka Bella Black).

In a media release Thursday, Nelson Police said that Ms. Shields, a Nelson resident, has not been heard from since the morning of October 31,2021 (Sunday).

Nelson Police said Shields is approximately 5’7” with a medium build and was last seen in the 600 block of Highway 3A in Nelson.

Nelson Police and friends are concerned for the well-being of Ms. Shields and wish to locate her as quickly as possible.

Anyone who has spoken to Ms. Shields in the past few days is asked to contact the Nelson Police Department at 250-354-3919 or the local RCMP Detachment.
