Letter: For Us All
With all the political posturing around climate change, we have in effect global acknowledgement that human accelerated climate change is real. Now comes the painful process, for us all, as governments and lobby groups put their spin on the reality to fit their own political agenda that might cause delays in positive action. One hope, for us all, could be that they all at least start to take the easy baby steps toward remediation such as putting a price on the very thing that is causing the problem – carbon emissions in to the atmosphere.
Unfortunately, for us all, is that our politics and economic models seem unable to make the structural changes necessary to re-direct the course of climate change. We all have behaviors that we know are not good for us – changing that behavior is difficult. So to with our global behavior that has lead to our current dilemma with climate. Solutions don’t just happen, they involve a process that often begins with the first step such as putting a price on carbon.
