Jeff Faragher, Conductor and Artistic Director for the Symphony of the Kootenays is excited to announce that his Nelson based Mountainside Chamber Music program has an exciting new program scheduled for 2014/15.

Participating string lovers and students alike will have opportunities to play, learn and enjoy stimulating chamber and orchestral music together in an enriching environment.

Mountainside Chamber Music is also pleased to announce that its’ Nelson based programs are extending out to the Slocan Valley this year.

“My vision for Mountainside Chamber Music is to connect with other string music communities in the region,” says Jeff Faragher, Professional Cellist, Performer and Director of Mountainside Chamber Music.

A lot is happening this coming year with rich musical opportunities for string players of all ages and skill levels in the West Kootenay region.

Faragher is offering small and large string ensembles (orchestra), clinics, master classes, private lessons, beginner cello group lessons, as well as opportunities to perform at recitals and at the annual Kootenay Festival of the Arts.

An exciting collaboration will ensue as the large string ensemble (orchestra) in both communities will be working on the same musical selections and will come together 1x per month as a whole group helping to build a closer and more supportive musical community here in the West Kootenays.

String players, ages 10-plus with at least 2 years of private instruction and previous ensemble experience are encouraged to register. “It is important that the strong players help to mentor the players with less experience in the larger ensemble,” says director Faragher.

Smaller ensembles will be matched according to similar skill levels.

Chamber Music coaching and limited slots for private cello lessons are also available with Jeff at both locations.  A beginner group cello class will be offered if there are at least six registrants on  Wednesdays in Slocan Valley (cellos rentals would be available).

The Nelson programs will be held weekly at Cedar Hall – Overtone Studios located at 3141 Keniris Rd, beginning on Tuesday- September 23.

The Slocan Valley programs will be held on alternating Wednesdays in New Denver/Hills area (location TBA)  beginning September 24.   We invite string players to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to study with Conductor and Artistic Director for the Symphony of the Kootenays, Jeff faragher.
