Dam Inn Mates take it on the chin again
By The Nelson Daily Sports
For the second straight week the Dam Inn Mates took it on the chin.
In a rematch of the 2010 West Kootenay Flag Football League final, the Mates once again played second fiddle to the Castlegar Vikings.
This time the Vikings hammered the Mates 38-7 in action Sunday at the Mount Sentinel Field. During week one, Hume Brewers thumped the Mates 21-1. In two games the Mates have been outscored 57-8.
The Vikings dominated both sides of the ball, scoring at will and twice intercepting Dam Inn quarterbacks. Castlegar quarterback Dave Kravski tossed touchdowns to Carl Perepolkin, Kevin Wilson, Steve Mota and Bryan Lauzon.
Kravski also ran for one major while Mota and Wilson picked off Dam Inn passes.
The win moves Castlegar into a tie with idle Hume Brewers. Hume also pounded Dam Inn during week one of the season.
The score of the contest between Nelson Impact and Whites was not available.
The league resumes play Sunday at Mount Sentinel with one game on the schedule. Hume meets Whites at 11 a.m. The following week Castlegar hosts the Brewers at 11 a.m. while Dam Inn meets Whites at 1 p.m.
