Gallaway, Diana

May1,1944 – April 21, 2016

Diana passed suddenly, leaving behind her daughters Nicole Carter and Jennifer Gallaway, her sister Penny Reilly (David Reilly), daughter-in-law Ursa Jeanettechild and granddaughter Rhya Bartlett Falconer as well as many nieces and nephew. Diana is pre-deceased by her parents Vera and Gerald Bradley and sister Stephanie Scutter. A tenacious and multifaceted woman who forged a path for herself and her daughters, Diana advocated for many who were less fortunate in our society, both human and animal. After retiring and moving to Nelson to be closer to her younger daughter, Diana lived peacefully and quietly by Kootenay Lake always cherishing the visits from her family and the many wild animals and pets who came near or across her threshold. Diana taught her daughters so much; she was the rock for both of them, teaching Nicki about perseverance and compassion, being Jenn’s everything in her formative years and beyond. Diana will forever be remembered for her dry wit, political mind, and deep love of animals. As Diana had expressed in life, only a private family viewing followed by cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers (of which she certainly enjoyed) donations can be made to Kootenay Animal Assistance P (KAAP), the BC SPCA or another animal charity of your choice.

Bright Eyes

Is it a kind of dream,
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream?
Oh, is it a dream?

There’s a fog along the horizon,
A strange glow in the sky,
And nobody seems to know where you go,
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Is it a kind of shadow,
Reaching into the night,
Wandering over the hills unseen,
Or is it a dream?

There’s a high wind in the trees,
A cold sound in the air,
And nobody ever knows when you go,
And where do you start,
Oh, into the dark.

Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.
