Trail's Weir 40th at Women's Amateur; three locals in hunt at Mid Amateur

Trail’s Kate Weir, now golfing out of the Swan-e-set Bay Resort in Port Coquitlam, is tied for 40th spot following Wednesday’s second round of the B.C. Women’s Amateur Championship in Christina Lake.

Weir finished the day with an 81, three shots better than Tuesday’s opening round to sit at 165.

Christine Wong of Richmond leads three players — Soo-Bin Kim of Port Coquitlam, Kyla Inaba of Gallaghers Canyon in Kelowna and A Ram Choi of Surrey — by one shot.

In the Women’s Mid-Amateur, played at the same time, Inaba holds a two shot advantage over Christina Proteau of  Port Alberni.

Cherie Baker of Creston is locked in a four-way tie for 15th with Connie Kostash of  Christina Lake, Wanda Flack of Fruitvale and Connie Hang of Vancouver.

Pax Alguire of Grand Forks is in 21st at 193 followed by Bev Poole of Castlegar at 195 and Colleen Verigin of Grand Forks at 203.

Pat Lawrence of Christina Lake is in 24th spot at 205.
