LVR Jr. Bombers snap slide against Boundary Schools

The L.V. Rogers Junior Bombers snapped a four-game losing streak by winning a pair of games during a High School Junior Boy’s Basketball Mini-Tournament Saturday at the Hangar in Nelson.

LVR defeated Boundary Central of Midway 42-32 before outlasting Grand Forks Wolves 34-26.

Earlier in the season, LVR split with the two Boundary teams, losing to Grand Forks and defeating Boundary Central.

Stanley Humphries Rockers, the other team in the tournament, also finished 2-0 with wins over both BCSS and Grand Forks.

Against Boundary Central, LVR overcame a poor shooting performance around the basket to out score the visitors 12-2 in the final minutes of the game grab the victory.

LVR led 26-20 at the half but Boundary Central rebounded to even the score at 28-28 after three periods as the Bombers offence dried up.

In fourth a 10-0 put the Bombers in control.

Grade 10 forward Curtis Young, seeing action for the first time in four games, led the Bombers with 10 points.

Brock Dixon added eight points while Dyllen Dixon and Quin Hall scored six, respectively. Thomas Baxter and Teo Cho each scored four points.

Against Grand Forks, LVR started slow as Grand Forks jumped to a 7-0 lead. Three quick buckets allowed LVR to cut the margin to 7-6 at the break.

Grand Forks rallied from a 21-16 deficit after three quarters to lead 26-24 before LVR went on the game-changing run 10-0 run.

Hall and Young each had eight points to lead the Bombers.

Dyllen Dixon had seven points and brother Brock Dixon had four.

LVR now plays host to J. Lloyd Crowe Hawks of Trail Wednesday at the LVR Hangar.
