Bombers open hoop season on road in South Okanagan

The L.V. Rogers Bombers tipped off the High School Basketball season with a fourth-place finish at the South Okanagan Hornets Senior Boy’s Tournament Saturday in Oliver.

The Bombers dropped a 67-56 decision to NorKam of Kamloops Saturday afternoon in the consolation final. Isaac Vissers led the Bombers with 12 points while Carter Anderson added 10.

LVR opened the tournament Friday with a 65-54 win over Mount Boucherie of West Kelowna. Matti Erickson led the Bombers with 22 points while Moss Caney added 18.

Later in the day, the Bombers lost to host South Okanagan Hornets 81-51. Mateo Kataoka was the top scorer for LVR with 18 points.

Moss Caney, Theo Lincourt and Johnny Michalchuck earned Game Stars for LVR. Mateo Kataoka was selected to the tournament Allstar Team.

Meanwhile, the LVR Junior Bombers kick off the season Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Hangar against the Stanley Humphries Coyotes.
