With the last week of April fast approaching, the Nelson Youth Action Network (NYAN) is gearing up for this year’s Youth Week events. Nelson Youth Week will be taking place from Thursday April 26th to Wednesday May 2nd, 2018.

Come check out the various free and fun events for youth happening all over town! There will be improv singing with Bessie Wapp and guitar workshop with Ralf Buschmeyer at the Nelson & District Youth Centre, a drop-in swim with NYAN at the NDCC, a teen hangout with crafts and games at the Nelson Public Library and much more.

The week will end with the REEL Youth Film Festival at the Civic Theatre where the whole community is invited to join us for a gala-style event featuring a reel of amazing international short films from youth around the world as well as a selection of films from young filmmakers of the Kootenays.

Youth week is an internationally celebrated event that aims to recognize the positive and diverse ways in which youth contribute to their communities and to celebrate the valuable work youth do all year round. This year for the Nelson celebrations, NYAN has been working with various groups of youth as well as local organizations including the Nelson Public Library, Selkirk Pro-Musica and the Civic Theatre to put the festivities together.
