The Cops for Kids ride received quite a boost from during its stop Monday in Nelson when the organization was presented with a cheque for $3052 Cops for Kids On-going Bottle Drive.

Ten-year-old Che Steffler and seven-year-old Aven Steffler were on hand to make the presentation.

The group had set a fundraising goal of $2015, but clearly topped that thanks to Jonathan Lloyd from Give it Back Recycling. Lloyd was a driving force for this fundraiser.

Lloyd & Give it Back Recycling will continue to pick-up, free of charge, refundables from events, businesses and residences in the Nelson and surrounding areas as he continues on his mission to “Give it back,” to local charities.

Since 1995, Cops for Kids, Inc. has assisted children, seniors, and families that find themselves in unfortunate situations.

Through generous donations from local business sponsors and individuals in our community, Cops for Kids has enabled children and seniors to enjoy some of the basic necessities that were not available to them through other agencies.

The Cops for Kids ride made its way into Nelson Monday. This year BC Sheriffs Mike Kosof, Rob Crowder and RCMP civilian Karen Armstrong have joined the 2015 Thomas Alan Budd Foundation Cops for Kids Ride Team.

The riders leave Nelson Tuesday, heading to Creston Wednesday and Cranbrook Thursday before concluding the trek Friday in Salmon Arm, Saturday in Kamloops and Sunday in Vernon.
